CXI 2019 trip report

CXI 2019 trip report

August 31, 2019

CXI never ceases to amaze! We are fresh back from our annual hosted trip and a fabulous time was had by all.

In rough figures, the trip totals came in at approx 960 Bonefish, 26 triggerfish, 18 Giant Herring, and 12 Decent GT's. We also managed to raise a few sailfish along the way!
The venue was "the villages" and as always the destination and service did not disappoint.

The fishing was nuts and a big highlight included a GT session that had hundreds of fish murdering milkies on a skinny water flat. It was mental! Between 2 of us, we pulled 3 fish from the mayhem, the best hitting around 45lb! There were some giant black beasts amongst them that predictably kept just out of casts reach!

The bones are definitely increasing in size and it was great to see multiple fish in the 6-pound class coming to hand. The trigger fishery is still A-grade but I am comfortable in declaring they are certainly much spookier on the closer, accessible flats. Great capture for the trip was a tidy Titan trigger landed on a 3-weight!

A personal highlight for me was watching good friend Phil Wratt have a blast trip as he had not picked up a fly rod since he was a young lad.

Geoff Kirk, it was a privilege sharing your first GT on the fly, what a crazy session!

Thanks to "the muppet's" for providing some laughs (you know who you are), Tim Kilinc, it was a massive pleasure sharing some quality time, I've missed your energy.

A big thanks to all for jumping on board the trip, it was great!

We're heading back again in 2020. Dates are set for the 7 days commencing the 8th July 2020. If your keen to get on board for an unforgettable week, then be sure to touch base with me soon.

Cheers,
Dan
